Despite the turmoil in July, August was a month of reverting the anti-corruption legislation back to its original form and vacations. The media regulator was active in pushing forward the processes on the public service media and co-regulatory tracks, but the MPs did not follow suit, preparing for a more active autumn of EU integration.
The most notable events happening in this period were:
- the submission of the new draft procedural rules on the adoption of the laws adapting Ukrainian legislation to the EU acquis;
- the adoption of the Draft Law #11533, which, if signed by the President, may introduce significant restrictions on the openness of state registries;
- the updates in the process of Suspilne’s Supervisory Board selection;
- the finalisation of the Broadcasting Rules on Memorial Days for linear audiovisual media.
This series of digests, produced with the support of International Media Support (IMS), provides an overview of the proposed and adopted legislation in the spheres of freedom of expression, media regulation, privacy and data protection, Internet regulation in general, and the activities of the National Broadcasting Council in the area of Media Law implementation.
As usual, the digest contains references to the documents discussed in the previous issues of the digest and provides a follow-up to the acts and events described therein.
